Ulster University has awarded an Honorary Doctor of Science (DSc) to Mairead Mackle, MBE, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to business and entrepreneurship.
Founder and CEO of Tarasis Enterprises, Dr Mackle is a multi‑award‑winning entrepreneur whose work spans business leadership, philanthropy and social enterprise. She is a leading advocate for values‑based leadership and the role of business in delivering positive societal impact.
Through the Tarasis Foundation and initiatives such as iCare and Evolve, she has championed social inclusion, economic empowerment and female leadership creating platforms that deliver impact locally across Northern Ireland as well as nationally and internationally.
Speaking following the award, Dr Mackle said:
“It is a real privilege to receive this recognition from Ulster University. I have always believed that business has a responsibility to create positive change, and I am passionate about supporting people and communities to reach their full potential. This honour reflects the collective efforts of many individuals working to build a more inclusive and purpose-driven future.”
Dr Mackle's influence extends to policy and thought leadership, with active roles on advisory groups and the publication of her book Evolve – Voices of Leadership. She was awarded an MBE for services to economic development and continues to be recognised as a leading voice in business, most recently through major industry awards.
This honour reflects her commitment to using business as a force for good and her contribution to inclusive economic growth.
