Familiarly known as ‘Paddy Bogside’, Paddy Doherty, a well-known and respected community activist in Derry today received the degree of Doctor of Laws (LLD) from the University of Ulster for services to community development.

His work with the Irish Foundation for Human Development in the city led, inter alia, to the establishment of the Derry Youth and Community Workshop, the North West Centre for Learning and Development and the Inner City Trust.
