Why join our Community of Practice?
We know that there are wonderful inclusive and accessible practices throughout our university. This all-staff community is designed to be a lively, open and encouraging space where we can share our practices, learn, unlearn, and re-learn from each other.
We want to provide brave spaces where we can grow personally and professionally in our teaching and learning support. Together, we will create an environment of shared learning, celebrate our successes, exchange personal stories, and actively listen to other experiences, including staff and learners.
What will you gain?
The main purpose of CoP as a concept, irrelevant of the context, is that it refers to groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do, and who wish to learn how to do it better as they interact regularly to discuss their reflection on practice (Wenger and Traynor, 2015).
By joining us, you will gain practical techniques, learn how to cultivate inclusive environments, hear staff and learner voices, and build a strong network among colleagues who are passionate about embedding EDI principles into our curriculum.
We can't wait to learn and grow with you!
How will we do this?
The CoP will focus on the six pillars within the EDI in the Curriculum Toolkit:
- Belonging and Wellbeing
- Inclusive and Accessible Design
- Student Voice and Students as Partners
- Inclusive and Authentic Assessment
- Feedback for Learner Agency
- Relevant and Global Curriculum
The Toolkit was developed by the EDI in the Curriculum task and finish group and was widely consulted before its launch in November 2024.
This group builds upon the work of the SIGIT (Special Interest Group in Inclusive Teaching) team and the Belonging and Wellbeing Network, which will now be incorporated into this community.
