The aim of this workshop is to increase the employability prospects of business and accounting students by giving them practical experience of the use of the Sage accounting software package.

Outline of Activity

The workshop will provide students with training on how Sage software is utilised in practice and industry. Students will work on a real life business simulation and will enter business transactions onto the software  package. Students will  then use the software to present the business transactions. This workshop is targeted at business and accounting students who are in their second and final degree year. The workshop is not suitable for students who have completed ACF120 ACF120 Digital Accounting and Analytics.

Learning Outcomes

  • Learn how to use Sage accounting software package
  • Gain commercial and business awareness
  • Learn how double entry is applied in practice using Sage Software
  • Learn how to present business data

Assessment Details

A business case study will be given to students which will include details of business transactions incurred throughout the accounting period. Students will be required to submit a case file incorporating:

  • Sage Dataset
  • Formatted trial balance
  • Nominal ledger activity
  • Profit and Loss Account
  • Balance Sheet
  • Individual reflection (100 words)

Level of Commitment

20 hours in total:

  • Semester 1 Workshop on Derry~Londonderry Campus
  • Preparation of case file and reflection
