This accredited activity helps students learn signs and symbols from stages 1-4 and the additional stage of the Makaton Core Vocabulary. This workshop is delivered through four modules and is both lecture and practical based.

Outline of Activity

This accredited Makaton Training is available to students through Robinson Makaton Training at a cost of £99 (student rate).

Participants will learn signs and symbols from stages 1-4 and the additional stage of the Makaton Core Vocabulary. Students will receive manuals containing the lecture content to use as a reference and for note taking. In addition, students will also receive pocket books of the signs and symbols learnt.

Online combined Level 1 and 2 Makaton workshop on 5th, 8th, 12th, 15th, 19th & 21st January 2026 at 6.30pm-9.00pm.

All sessions should be attended. It is not possible to miss a session and resume with the subsequent sessions. The cost is £99 (student concession). The closing date is 23rd December 2025 and early booking is recommended. Email robinsonmakatontraining@outlook.com for registration information.

Learning Outcomes

The participants will have an understanding of how Makaton signs and symbols are used to aid both understanding and expression. They will be able to confidently recognise and use Makaton signs and symbols from stages 1- 4 and the additional stage of the Makaton Core Vocabulary at a single word and sentence level. They will have an understanding of the research used to develop Makaton; and know how to implement Makaton in practice.

Once you complete your course and receive your certification you will receive EDGE accreditation by uploading your evidence to the External Training Course activity.

Level of Commitment

Students must

  • Attend all 4 modules is required.
  • To maintain learning it is advised that the students continue self-directed practice of the Makaton signs and symbols learnt at the Foundation Workshop
