This activity ss for Year 3 BSc Hons Physiotherapy students delivering ergonomics fundamentals training to UU medical students

Outline of Activity

This activity involves Year 3 physiotherapy students teaching "Introduction to Ergonomics" to Year 1 medical students.

The session will cover the basic principles of ergonomics and practical techniques for safe moving and handling of patients. The activity includes a short training session for physiotherapy students, peer to peer practice preparation, followed by two 2-hour group teaching sessions. A physiotherapy lecturer will be present to provide support. The activity will also include reflection and evaluation of the teaching activity.

  • Understand and articulate the basic principles of ergonomics.
  • Demonstrate safe moving and handling techniques for patients.
  • Develop teaching and communication skills by instructing Year 1 medical students.
  • Enhance employability skills through hands-on teaching experience and certification.

  • A certificate of achievement endorsed by the Head of School upon successful completion.
