Responsible Investment Policy
Ulster University’s Responsible Investment Policy integrates ESG considerations into investment decisions to balance financial returns with ethics and sustainability.
Social Value in Procurement Statement
Ulster University’s Procurement Social Value Statement explains how social, economic, and environmental benefits will be embedded into all procurement activities. The University is committed to applying Social Value consistently across planning, tendering, evaluation, and contract management to support its Strategic Plan. This approach is guided by the Procurement Operational Plan and ensures staff apply Social Value criteria during tender processes. Social Value is defined as the positive outcomes generated through procurement, assessed through five key themes that help structure and evaluate tenders.
Our Procurement Practices
Net Zero Carbon Supplier Tool
Ulster University uses the Net Zero Carbon Supplier Tool to assess and engage with suppliers on their carbon impact. This helps us make informed procurement decisions, support suppliers in reducing emissions, and advance our own net zero commitments. By integrating sustainability into our supply chain, we promote a low-carbon, responsible approach to purchasing and partnership.
Supplier Engagement Tool
Ulster University uses the Supplier Engagement Tool to work collaboratively with our suppliers on sustainability and ethical practices. The tool helps us track performance, identify areas for improvement, and foster partnerships that support environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals across our supply chain.
Electronics Watch
Ulster University is a member of the North West Purchasing Consortium, which is monitored by Electronics Watch. This ensures that our procurement of electronics meets high standards for human rights, labour conditions, and environmental responsibility. Through this partnership, we promote ethical supply chains and embed sustainability into our purchasing decisions.
