Green Libraries Manifesto
Ulster University Library has signed the Green Libraries Manifesto, joining libraries across the UK and internationally in a shared commitment to environmental sustainability. The manifesto recognises the important role libraries play at the heart of their communities and encourages us to lead by example, embedding sustainability into our everyday practice while using our voice to inspire positive change.
Reading for Sustainability Resources
Ulster University Libraries support sustainability through a curated range of Reading for Sustainability resources. This collection brings together books covering key environmental, social, and economic themes, helping students and staff explore sustainability across disciplines. Designed to raise awareness and encourage learning, the resources make it easy to engage with sustainability topics as part of study, teaching, and everyday life.
Sustainable Labs
Ulster University promotes sustainable laboratory practices through frameworks such as LEAF and Green DiSC. Bronze LEAF accreditation recognises laboratories that implement key actions to improve energy, water, and waste efficiency, while engaging staff in sustainable behaviours. The Green DiSC programme supports resource efficiency in dry lab and computer-based environments. Together, these initiatives foster continuous improvement and reduce the environmental impact of our laboratories.
