Ulster University's Professor Jim McLaughlin has joined the StopCovid-19 Expert Group - DOH NI, led by Dan West Chief Digital Information Officer.
Specifically, Jim's work involves validating the ROI COVID Tracker app, for use in Northern Ireland. The app, which will include a symptom checker and diagnostic test reader, is due to be released in early August and will form a vital component of the track and trace strategy in the north.
This comes as Nearform, the Waterford company behind the app in the Republic, works with health authorities and academics in Northern Ireland to develop similar technologies.
The Ulster team, represented by Prof McLaughlin, includes leading app Designer Dr Liam Burns, User experience expert Dr Raymond Bond and RF expert Dr Adnan Cheema.
