Vice Chancellor Welcomes NI Executive Additional STEM Undergraduate Places

9 November 2012

University of Ulster Vice Chancellor, Professor Richard Barnett, has welcomed the additional 500 full-time undergraduate places that are to be funded as part of the Executive’s economic stimulus.

Professor Barnett said: “I congratulate Employment and Learning Minister, Dr Stephen Farry, on securing these additional student places.

“In line with the University’s corporate plan, and the business case already approved by the Department for Employment and Learning and the Department of Finance and Personnel, we will be using the additional places allocated to us to further expand places at our Magee campus.”

Pro Vice Chancellor Communication and Magee Provost Professor Deirdre Heenan said: "The University of Ulster has consistently said that Magee is the only campus earmarked for expansion and we have demonstrated that by allocating all additional undergraduate places secured by the Employment and Learning Minister.

"The University continues to lobby the Northern Ireland Executive for additional undergraduate places Magee."
