Hat-trick of Successes for Ulster Business School

13 June 2011

The Ulster Business School is celebrating a hat-trick of successes this week.

It's been approved as an accredited training provider by the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), and  two additional top flight financial sector experts  – Professor Stephen McClure of Citigroup,  and Professor Tony He of  Sydney University of Technology  – are to bring their international expertise to the UBS portfolio.

Philip Hamill, Professor of Finance and Investment, said: ‘This accredited trainer provider status  is an important milestone which reflects the hard work of the financial services team over the past four years.

“Being an accredited training provider has important practical implications: the University is now a recognised CISI testing centre which allows our students to benefit from in-house assessment, and to teach and assess candidates on industry specific programmes the Department has developed and delivered such as the successful Graduate Development Programme in Financial Services."

Professor Stephen McClure becomes Visiting Professor in the Department of Business, Retail and Financial Services.  Professor McClure, an Ulster graduate, is the Senior Vice-President for ICG Operations at Citigroup Belfast., and  Professor Tony He joins the Accounting and Financial Services Group (AFSRG) as visiting Professor in Quantitative Finance.

Head of Department of Business, Retail and Financial Services, Professor Barry Quinn said: We believe that the agreement with CISI and the appointment of our Visiting Professors will enhance our reputation as a leading provider of financial services education, with a strong focus on developing key sector specific skills to meet student aspirations and the needs of industry.

"We look forward to working closely with our new Visiting Professors, both of whom represent excellence in their respective fields’.
