Ulster University Go Global Student Stories
Shauna Dowling
BSc Hons Human Nutrition
I would tell any student considering a similar programme no matter how nervous they may be to apply for something like the GoPhilly, it is a once in a life time opportunity and you don’t want to miss out.
I applied for the programme 'Aspects & Problems of Current Politics & Governance in the US/UK', as I had a keen interest in finding out more about how my country and its governance compared to the US.
As well as learning about the history, culture, social norms and attitudes of a different country.
I must say it certainly gave me all of this and more!
As well as all the amazing things we did with the university we also had great fun in our free time.
Between going on excursions ourselves, out for dinners, shopping and further exploring the city we really got the most out of the days we were visiting in Philadelphia. I would tell any student considering a similar programme no matter how nervous they may be to apply for something like the GoPhilly, it is a once in a life time opportunity and you don’t want to miss out.
I met some amazing people that I will keep in contact with for life.
The experiences and skills I gained will take me very far in my future career. It is an experience like no other and I would recommend it 100% to anyone who is considering taking part in a mobility programme with Ulster University.
