My name is Megan and I graduated from Ulster University, Coleraine in 2018. I joined Danske Bank in August that year. During COVID, I worked as a Team Coach in the contact centre, and feeling the need for change, I applied for the Leading on Customer Operations (LOCO) apprenticeship programme. I loved university the first time, so why not go again? At the same time, I moved to the role of risk coach within the department.

My experience

The teaching team at UUBS has been outstanding, with Ruth Mercer leaving a lasting impression with her warmth and enthusiasm from day one. Throughout the degree, I found several modules, especially Customer Experience and the Data Driven workplace, highly relevant to my role as Risk & Project Consultant for the contact centre. This position focuses on improving customer experience and adjusting to changes in data and AI.

My experience at Ulster University has been incredible, allowing me to strengthen relationships with colleagues from Danske Bank and beyond. Balancing university, full-time work, and hobbies was challenging, but effective time management made each day unique. My job role complemented my studies, enabling me to apply my learning at work and complete assignments with greater ease. I’m grateful that Ulster University and Danske Bank have been so supportive throughout my time on the programme.

Future aspirations

As much as I have enjoyed this journey, I'm excited about graduation and celebrating with my cohort, family, and friends. While I plan to take a break from studies to focus on my role at Danske Bank, my passion for learning will likely lead to new opportunities in 2026.
