Did you know that Northern Ireland has the lowest rate of employment for people with disabilities in the UK and the highest disability employment gap (the difference between the employment rates of disabled and non-disabled people) in the UK? Almost a quarter of a million working-age adults in Northern Ireland are disabled - just over one-fifth of the working-age population.
The Department for Communities in collaboration with Ulster University Business School invites you to a co-design workshop on Friday 27 January 2023 to explore a new employer facing government scheme titled ‘Trust Inclusion’.
‘Trust Inclusion’ will aim to better support and enable employers of all sizes and industries to build their awareness of disability, understand and implement best practice in disability employment, and create more inclusive workplaces.
Co-design workshop
Hosted in Ulster University’s new Belfast campus, the Department for Communities is keen to hear from a diverse range of employers, people professionals, academics and students on their views and idea generation on core elements of Trust Inclusion to help shape the scheme for all.
This session will offer insight on a range of topics from lead government officials, covering:
- The NI disability labour market picture
- A future disability and work strategy for NI
- Trust Inclusion concept and core components
- Plenary discussions and QandA
