Booking your NMC Test of Competence

See our information regarding costs and how to book your OSCE test.

The OSCE is designed to assess your ability to competently apply your professional nursing or midwifery skills and knowledge in the UK.

The examination is testing your ability to apply knowledge to the care of service users rather than how well you can remember and recite facts. All the scenarios and any questions relate to current best practice and you should answer them in relation to published evidence and not according to local arrangements.

The NMC will notify you of your eligibility to take Part two (OSCE).

In order to qualify for Part two you must have successfully completed Part one and have provided the NMC with the correct documents.

If you are unsure of your eligibility for the OSCE examination, please contact the NMC for further guidance.

Please do not submit a payment without receiving eligibility notice from the NMC – payments are non-refundable. Ulster University will only provide dates for tests for those eligible according to the NMC.

Candidates need to ensure they have read and understand our summary of regulations

Cost of the OSCE
