Individual Candidate Bookings

Below you will find information on Individual Candidate Bookings.

What happens next?

Once you register and we confirm you are eligible to complete the test:

  • We will send you a link to our online booking service and a password for making payment.
  • You will be required to make payment by card at the point of booking.
  • You will then be prompted to choose a date for the test that is most convenient for you.
  • Once you have paid you will gain access to all of our online resources.

Choose a suitable date

Dates are available throughout the year and can be booked using our secure examination booking system.

Our system displays test dates as:

  • Open – test date is open and has availability to book
  • Full – test date is fully booked
  • Closed – Date unavailable

Test dates are closed 14 days in advance to allow sufficient time for candidates to prepare.

Costs

Full / New OSCE application.

Effective from 1st April 2019, the cost is £794

This is non-refundable in the event of cancellation.

Cancellation or Reschedule of Booking

  • Should a candidate request to cancel their OSCE booking or reschedule the date of their OSCE more than three weeks before their OSCE is scheduled, there will be an automatic administrative cancellation fee of £30 per cancellation. The refund will be the test/resit fee paid less the administrative cancellation fee.
  • Should a candidate cancel their OSCE booking or reschedule the date of their OSCE less than three weeks before their OSCE is scheduled, there will be an automatic administrative cancellation fee of £250 per booking. The refund will be the test/resit fee paid less the administrative cancellation fee.
  • In exceptional circumstances, the test centre will consider reducing this £250 fee. Exceptional circumstances must include evidence (for example a medical certificate) and must be something outside the candidate’s control. Should the validity/authenticity of evidence supplied be of concern the NMC will be advised. In such circumstances, the test centre may determine that no reduction to the £250 cancellation fee will be applied.
  • Should a candidate cancel their OSCE more than three times within three weeks of their scheduled OSCE, this may result in the entirety of their OSCE fee not being refunded.

Non-attendance

* No refund will be given for non-attendance or if no prior notice is given (within the stated cancellation time above). The full OSCE fee is charged.

Resits

You must allow ten days between original test date and re-sit to allow for additional preparation and action on feedback.

A partial resit will cost £397 and a full resit will cost £794. Effective from 1st April 2019

Test of Competence

1st Attempt Fail (1-7 Stations)

Candidates who failed up to 7 stations across both the APIE and skill stations.

You will require a Resit at 50% cost which is equal to £397.

1st Attempt Fail (8-10 Stations)

Candidates who failed 8 to 10 stations across both the APIE and skill stations.

You will require a Resit at 100% cost which is equal to £794

Resit Information

You will need to sit only the APIE station(s) that you failed. You will be given your original paperwork from the APIE stations that you passed (where applicable), in order to complete the resit station(s).

You will require 10 days to elapse before booking your 2nd attempt.

2nd Resit

Costs are as 1st Resit.

  • Candidates must wait 10 days before sitting the 2nd Resit.
  • Should a candidate fail the 2nd resit then a new OSCE application is required.
  • Candidates must wait six months before sitting the new OSCE.
  • The new application will be charged at full cost.
