The second of three levels of Media Production EDGE activities, the Intermediate level supports students to build higher level production skills that are progressing from those developed at entry level.
The purpose of the three Media Production Edge activities (entry, intermediate and advanced grades) is to encourage you to develop higher level production and technical skills through a variety of extra curricular projects.
This higher level of activity will help you find your personal passions and interests lay, improve technical skills and production knowledge and expand the number of projects on your CV. These three elements will improve employment prospects and expand your network of creative contacts inside and outside the University.
Media Production Intermediate level requires a student to take part in 6 projects at an operator level grade or higher. Clarification of ‘operator’ will be on a case-by-case basis and ‘assistant’ roles on industry projects might qualify here.
Students must have completed Media Production Entry level in order to enrol onto Media Production 2 (intermediate grade). The projects can be non-academic personal projects, events produced by third-parties or they can be part of a University assessment. For clarification, a student can volunteer to work on another group’s assessment as part of this Edge activity, but they cannot include anything for which they receive an academic grade.
Students will be required to provide evidence of their participation in the 6 projects and will be required to write a 100-word report (minimum) outlining: the project, their role and activity on the project, what skills they refined or developed as part of the activity, whether the activity increased their network of contacts and areas for future personal improvement.
