    Current Outages

    Remote access

    We are currently aware of an issue affecting our remote access service. This is at a global level and we are actively investigating the issue with the vendor.

    Users may experience connectivity issues while this is ongoing. We will provide further updates as soon as more information becomes available.

    01-06-26 - update

    The access issues affecting some remote users have now been resolved.

    Our service partner has identified and corrected the underlying issue, with accessibility to all systems completely restored.

    Staff are reporting issues with access to some internal systems when accessing remotely.

    The issue has been escalated within Digital Services and further updates will be provided as soon as possible.

    Blackboard Ultra Access issues

    The earlier issue affecting access via the portal has now been resolved. You should be able to log in as normal again.

    Scheduled Maintenance

    Blackboard will be unavailable for approximately 2 hours on the 12th of July.

    Blackboard will be unavailable for approximately 2 hours on the 12th July. The update will commence at 00:01 and is expected to complete by 02:00.

    On Monday 20th July, Turnitin will switch to the latest version. Existing Turnitin assignments will continue to work, as they do now, but any new assignments will be created in the new Enhanced Turnitin Feedback Studio.

    The Turnitin upgrade introduces new functionality including granting extensions to specific students and new audio and video feedback options. Support material is available to help orientate you to the changes in advance of the update.

    Banner Student Record System unavailable from 5pm on Friday 26th until Monday afternoon the 29th of June 2026.

    The Banner student records system will be unavailable from Friday 26th June at 5pm and will be available again on the afternoon of Monday 29th June. 

    This period of downtime is to allow Digital Services to apply business critical patches and upgrades to support UCAS, UKVI, SLC and HESA processing.

    Banner and all of the associated systems will be unavailable at this time.  This includes Apply, Online Enrolment, Banner Self Service and Banner Faculty Grade Entry (marks collection).

    Cognos will be available throughout.

    Cognos Analytics Service Downtime - Friday 15th May 2026 between 09:00 & 10:30.

    There will be a short interruption to the Cognos Analytics Service on Friday 15 May between 09:00 and 10:30. This is to facilitate required technical/configuration changes to the underlying platform.
