    16-07-26 12:30pm UPDATE: AWS has implemented a fix for the issue and service appears stable.

    16-07-26 - The Blackboard team have notified us that they are currently experiencing service issues related to a Cloudflare outage.

    Users may experience problems accessing Blackboard services.

    Please continue to report Blackboard functionality/content and Turnitin issues to the Blackboard  Helpdesk by emailing  blackboardhelpdesk@ulster.ac.uk as normal.

    Remote access to some systems

    01-06-26 - update

    The access issues affecting some remote users have now been resolved.

    Our service partner has identified and corrected the underlying issue, with accessibility to all systems completely restored.

    Staff are reporting issues with access to some internal systems when accessing remotely.

    The issue has been escalated within Digital Services and further updates will be provided as soon as possible.

    Blackboard Ultra Access issues

    The earlier issue affecting access via the portal has now been resolved. You should be able to log in as normal again.

    Scheduled Maintenance

    ODS Maintenance Downtime- Tuesday 25th August

    The production Banner Operational Data Store (ODS) be unavailable on Tuesday 25th August between 10:30 and 11:00. This is to facilitate essential maintenance.

    During this time, the following services will be impacted:

    • Student Records reporting (e.g. using Cognos) against the ODS
    • Data feeds from the ODS and DATAHUB

    We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

    Cognos 12 Upgrade

    The official go-live date for Cognos 12 will take place 28 August 2026, with a two-week period where Cognos 11 will still be available to all users. In preparation for the transition, the Business Intelligence and Database Services team have created a Training Hub where you can access short videos showcasing the new platform.

    While your reports will remain largely the same, you will notice:

    Block BC - Essential Infrastructure Work 15th - 17th July

    Essential infrastructure works will take place in Block BC, Belfast Campus, between 15–17 July.

    While no disruption to core services is expected, there is a possibility that some networked AV systems in teaching and meeting rooms may require attention following the works.

    Digital Services are monitoring out of hours and will remediate as required.
