The Doctoral College Induction for New PhD Researchers event is held on each campus every September. There is also an online Induction event for those who begin in January.
This event is an opportunity to meet other PhD Researchers. It provides an introduction to your PhD at Ulster University including:
- The nature of a research degree
- University regulations and systems
- Timeline of the PhD
- Research Ethics and Integrity
- Awareness of support
- Researcher Development Programme
- Supervisor /PhD Researcher guidance
- Introduction to PhD Manager
- Group discussion on Expectations
- Reflections from existing PhD Researchers
The Doctoral College Induction is designed to complement your local/subject area Induction.

Your Individual subject areas (called Units of Assessment) may arrange an additional induction that is specific to researchers in your subject. They will contact you directly about this.
Coffee Morning on Campus
On-campus coffee mornings/lunches take place every month in your Campus Doc. We would encourage you to come along to meet your Doctoral College team and your fellow researchers. Upcoming events are listed via the following link:
