RefWorks

Audience: All students and staff

Description: RefWorks workshops are regularly scheduled for Library users. If you would like to learn how to use this important tool to manage your references online, please book a session.

Harvard Referencing (AHSS, CEBE, UUBS)

Audience: Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences; Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment; Ulster University Business School.

Description: These workshops will run at all campus libraries and will demonstrate basic techniques for completing a Harvard reference for books, journals and web pages.
Learning Outcomes: Understand why referencing is important; Know how to insert citations in the text of your work; Know how to prepare a list of references in the Ulster University Harvard style;  Know where to find help and advice on referencing and citing in our online Harvard Referencing web pages and detailed printable guide.

OSCOLA Referencing (Law)

Audience: Law

Description: These workshops will run at Jordanstown & Magee libraries and will demonstrate basic techniques for completing a OSCOLA reference for books, journals & web pages.
Learning Outcomes: Be aware of general principles underlying OSCOLA referencing; Create basic footnotes for a case,  legislation, a book, a journal article, a web page; Know where to find more help online and in print with OSCOLA citations; Understand plagiarism and know how to avoid it.

APA Referencing

Audience: Life & Health Sciences

Description:These workshops will run at Coleraine for Life and Health Sciences students and will demonstrate basic techniques for completing an American Psychological Association (APA) reference for books, journals and web pages. Plagiarism will also be covered.
Learning Outcomes: Understand why referencing is essential; Understand how to avoid plagiarism; Learn how to insert in-text citations; Learn how to create a reference list; Identify sources of help.
