Getting Started in the Library

Welcome to the Ulster University Library

" Welcome to the Library at Ulster University. We encourage you to make full use of  our resources & services to support you with your academic studies and to help you to maximise your potential.

All new and returning students are invited to attend an induction session, these introductory sessions will help you to get started with using the Library, ICT & Reprographics services.

Your Subject Librarian is the best source of help and support for information relating to your specific programme of study. Make a point of  attending  any subject-specific Library classes that are organised for you, these sessions are extremely beneficial and will help you to find  good quality sources of  information for your assignments & projects.

The Library is a friendly, welcoming environment.  Please ask a member of staff if you need help with anything. We look forward to meeting you and helping you to have the best possible student experience with us.  "

Induction Guide

All new and returning students are invited to attend an induction session. The Library & ICT induction session slides are now available.  An online Library Induction Guide is also available.

Information Skills Guide

The aim of the Information Skills Guide is to help you search effectively for information for your assignments and projects.  In other words, it will show you how to carry out a successful literature search.

Library Help Service

The Library Help service is the first place for you to start looking for help with Library services.  Here you'll find previous asked questions & answers that will point you in the right direction. If these don't help, just use the handy form to submit your own question to Library staff.

And if you're in one of our four campus Libraries, just come by the Information Desk and ask.

Subject Guides
Library subject staff prepare online guides to help you find materials for your studies or research. Subject guides cover books, journals, e-books, e-journals, databases, internet resources and much more. Visit the Library Subject Guides and check out the guide for your subject. Or visit the Subject Guides homepage for your faculty:
