Alan Hook is a designer and educator. He is Senior Lecturer in Interactive Media in the School of Communication and Media on the Coleraine Campus. He was Associate Head of School in Communication and Media until 2021 and is currently undertaking a secondment at Advance HE as a Learning Technologist and Design Advisor helping them develop their approaches to e-learning, blended delivery and design lead approaches to delivery.
He is currently developing courses for Advance HE in EDI, Allyship, Assessment Design and Neurodiversity. He is passionate about exploring the links between traditional scholarship in Media and Cultural Studies and more applied, active and authentic forms of assessment.
He has Externally Examined in courses at Birmingham City, Dundalk Institute of Technology, and Northumbria and helped in curriculum design in Limerick Institute of Technology, University College Cork, South Bank University and NUI Galway. He also contributes his experience as part of the Board of Governors for North Coast Integrated College, Mill Strand Integrated Primary School, and as part of the Board of Directors of FactCheckNI.
