Ulster University Digital Services maintains a range of policies, standards and guidelines for the secure and reliable delivery of services across the University. The scope of these documents varies. Some documents apply across the entire University, to both central and departmental systems, while other documents are more focused on scope or advisory.

Digital Governance, Risk and Compliance (Digital GRC) support University teams in the development, review, and maintenance of digital and IT policies, standards, and operational processes. The team provides guidance to ensure documentation remains consistent, compliant, and aligned with institutional governance, risk, and information security requirements.

If you require copies of policies, standards, or supporting documents, or have any queries relating to digital governance or IT compliance, please contact Digital GRC (DigitalGRC@ulster.ac.uk) directly for assistance.

A simplified and practical overview for staff on how these policies can help to protect University information is available in a staff information handbook.

University staff or students may submit an online Server Connection Application Form to request external access to TCP/IP services that are ordinarily restricted by the institutional firewall. All requests are assessed and approved in accordance with the current Networks Standard and the University’s digital security and governance requirements.
