Digital capability describes having the skills and attitudes to live, learn and work in a digital world. Building digital capabilities can enhance educational practice and professional development; and help your students develop digital skills for the workplace. It develops digital fluency, with the ability to select and use technology effectively, and the confidence to adapt to emerging technologies.
Jisc Discovery Tool
The Jisc Discovery Tool allows you to reflect on; and develop digital capabilities with your educational practice in mind; covering aspects from digital collaboration and data literacy to digital wellbeing. The tool provides a tailored report, identifying strengths and possible areas to improve. It is anonymous and takes approximately 20 minutes to create your report.
Select Ulster and login with your Ulster email and network password to initially set up your profile. You don't need to be proficient in all areas, it’s a personal reflection, so focus on what is most important in your educational practice. You can re-take in the future to check progress. It can be useful to discuss digital skills with your colleagues and professional networks, to share ideas, experiences and opportunities. Further support relating to building digital capabilities is available below.
