It’s been a bumper year for our sporting students at Ulster, especially for the women.

Last summer we saw eight current students compete at the Commonwealth Games, coming home with a Silver for Kate O’Connor in the Heptathlon and a Gold for Adam McKeown in the Lawn Bowls.

In addition to the athletes’ staff, Alison Moffitt-Robinson was the Chef de Mission of Team NI and Anne Paul was a Para Triathlon Guide.

Over the last academic year, we have been proud to see 36 team and individual successes with numerous runners-up. Here are just a few of the highlights:

Men's Basketball – winning the double! Basketball Ireland D1 (earning them a return to Super League) and they also won the President’s Cup.

Women’s Hockey - won the Ulster Premier League and were narrowly beaten in EY2 final but nevertheless secured promotion to EY1, an incredible achievement.

This success means that both our Men's and Women’s Basketball plus our Women’s Hockey will be playing at the very highest level of their sport on the Island of Ireland in the next academic year.

In addition to these huge achievements, our women in sport were having successes all-round

  • Women’s GAA won the Giles Cup
  • Women’s Football won the CUFL premier League
  • Magee Ladies GAA won 3 cups and Magee Camogie Aishling Murphy Cup
  • Women’s Basketball BNI Premier League and Netball team won the Irish Intervarsity!
