Overview

Education

  • PhD Marine Geophysics, University of Southampton, 1997
  • MSc Geophysics, Durham University, 1994
  • BSc Geology, University College Cork, 1993

Teaching interests

Rory teaches aspects of GIS, remote sensing, marine science and geoscience on the environmental science, marine science and geography degree programmes.

Research interests

Rory is a marine geoscientist, interested in applications of ocean mapping methods and computational modelling. He use acoustic imaging to detect, quantify and understand change in anthropogenic, geomorphological, geoarchaeological and biophysical environments.

A better understanding of these processes allows us to inform policy makers and develop mitigation strategies to minimise loss in the face of increasing natural and human forcing.
