About the Project

Staff Involved: Dr Fidelma Ashe and Eilish Rooney

Project Description

Brexit has deepened deliberations on Irish unification. Any constitutional change on the Island of Ireland will drive multiple transformations that will impact on the lives of women.

Women need to be at the centre of constitutional discussions and design in order to assess what constitutional change will do for women and, importantly, what it will do to women, and particularly marginalised women. The project will facilitate women’s inclusion in on-going constitutional debates and produce a set of principles for constitutional conversations to guide policymakers/stakeholders.

In addition, it will identify, evaluate and operationalise mechanisms and strategies to bring women’s voices on constitutional change into on-going discussions and policy-related debates.
