Overview

Leanne is a Lecturer in Postgraduate Academic Skills in the new Student Success Centre at Ulster University. Leanne was awarded BSc in Human Nutrition in 2006, after which, she successfully completed a Master of Research and PhD within the Nutrition Innovation Centre for Food and Health (NICHE). In 2017 Leanne became an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

As a Post-Doctoral Scientist, Leanne had a lead role on a range of externally funded research projects. Leanne worked on a human nutrition intervention study at the University of Liverpool and assisted with the setting up of a multi-centre weight loss study in collaboration with the MRC Human Nutrition Research Centre at Cambridge University and Oxford University. Following this, Leanne worked on a mixed methods research study in the School of Nursing at Ulster, before joining NICHE in 2017 when she acted as a Lecturer in Human Nutrition and Immunology within the School of Biomedical Sciences and managed a multi-centre project exploring Functional foods for Optimal nutrition for healthier Ageing (OptiAge). Leanne then joined the School of Sport and worked as the Trial Manager on the Walking ISchools (WISH) study alongside her role as Problem Based Tutor in the Medical School. Leanne has remained in the Medical School working part-time, as Research Fellow in Public Health, on an Ideas Fund project in collaboration with Addiction Recovery (ARC) Fitness.
