The Assessment Code of Practice identifies policy, procedural and design elements associated with quality assessment and feedback at Ulster University
The Assessment Code of Practice describes University standards of practice for the design, delivery and quality assurance of assessment, and acts as a key reference document for assessment related policies.
This document is written at a general University level and complements Faculty and subject-level policies and strategies which may be more nuanced for specific discipline areas.
The code does not deal with the assessment of research degrees.
Note: The Assessment Code of Practice replaces the previous Assessment Handbook. While many practices have been retained within the new Code, there have also been some enhancements.
There is currently a period of transition with the new Code to be fully enacted by academic year 25/26. If and where the new Assessment Code of Practice prompts a substantive change to an existing form of assessment, the relevant student body will be consulted before the change is approved through the University’s existing CA3 course revision process.
These changes will then be applied to these future student cohorts. Substantive changes are not expected for this current academic year 24/25.
