This fully online self-paced programme for Ulster University Staff will explore the best practice in supporting the learning experiences of international students.

It has been developed by the Teaching International Students Task and Finish group. This programme was co-designed by members of the group and included student representation from the UUSU and an international placement student from Centre for Professional Practice Enhancement and pulled from the sector knowledge-base in this area.

There are seven main themes for participants to work through in the learning materials, including video recordings from English for Academic Studies Centre, an International Student interview and some case studies from the School of Computing and QAHE. Activities and discussions have been woven into each theme allowing participants to reflect on past experiences and what this means for their professional practice going forward. The themes are:

  • Inducting Learners;
  • Effective Communication;
  • Know your Learners;
  • Fostering an Effective Learning Environment;
  • Supporting Learners;
  • Assessment and Feedback; and
  • Seeking Constant Feedback.

On successful completion there is an option to claim a digital badge for your email signature or to add it to your online staff card.
