We are pleased to announce the fourth Peacebuilding Summer School, led by Diversity Challenges, University of Massachusetts Boston (Conflict Resolution, Human Security, and Global Governance) and Ulster University (INCORE) with a partnership of REACT, West Armagh Consortium and Rural Community Network.

The School based at Charlemount Arms Hotel Armagh will examine tough issues in the conflict and how they have been resolved or not resolved:

  • Parades from Loyal Order, marching band and residents’ perspectives
  • Impact of the conflict Armagh City and south Armagh with guided tours
  • Conflict management in Derry/Londonderry with a visit to the City (hosted by INCORE)
  • Life in Northern Ireland from a wide variety of perspectives including the LBGTQi community, minority ethnic communities, nationalist and unionist communities
  • Peace Walls and segregation in Belfast

Local participants will sit alongside participants travelling from the US but drawn from a wide range of countries and will have the opportunity to learn and interact with each other, encountering a range of local and international perspectives.

Those from UMASS can undertake accredited learning as part of UMASS teaching.

Those from Ireland can undertake accredited learning through Open College Network course on Peace Building specifically designed for the school.

We have secured two Bursaries from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
