Policy and Community Partnerships

The Policy and Community Partnerships Team is responsible for developing, managing, and reporting on Ulster University’s Widening Access and Participation Plan (WAPP). The team also ensures the University meets its statutory obligation to provide additional financial support to eligible students through Widening Access bursaries.

In addition, the team delivers a range of projects and programmes that support community engagement and widen participation in higher education.

Ulster University Widening Access and Participation Plan

Ulster University is committed to promoting fair access, progression, and success in higher education, particularly for groups that are under-represented.

Each year, the University publishes a Widening Access and Participation Plan (WAPP). This plan:

  • Sets out how the University supports students who can benefit from higher education
  • Details commitments to widening participation and improving progression
  • Outlines how a proportion of additional tuition fee income is reinvested, as required under the Higher Education (Northern Ireland) Order 2005
