Boys' Impact Hub

FEWAP, in partnership with the School of Applied Social & Policy Sciences at Ulster, has funded the Taking Boys Seriously (TBS) longitudinal participatory action research project since 2017. TBS has engaged thousands of adolescent boys and their educators across Northern Ireland, building an evidence base to address compounded educational disadvantage.

Taking an ecosystem approach, and collaborating across informal and formal education providers as well as the wider community, the project works to embed a culture of relational education. This approach has demonstrated positive holistic outcomes, particularly for boys and young men most at risk of low educational attainment.

The most recent development is the launch of the NI Boys’ Impact Hub, now connected to 15 regional Boys’ Impact Hubs across the UK. All Hubs use Ulster University’s TBS research to guide and inspire their work with boys and young men facing disadvantage.
