Study the importance of food and nutrition for health and wellbeing with excellent opportunities in the food industry.
The importance of food and nutrition for health and the reduction of disease risk is increasingly apparent and is an area that remains high on the public health agenda, thus ensuring a sustained demand for quality graduates in this area.
At Ulster University, we offer a range of programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level encompassing dietetics, food and nutrition and human nutrition. In addition, we provide joint postgraduate programmes in sport and exercise nutrition (with Ulster University’s School of Sport) and food regulatory affairs (with University College Dublin).
Our degree programmes are mainly delivered by academic staff that are based within the Nutrition Innovation Centre for Food and Health (NICHE), a world-renowned research centre in the School of Biomedical Sciences. Our programmes are delivered using innovative teaching methods via lectures, laboratory-based practical sessions, tutorials and research projects and all of our undergraduate programmes are underpinned by a professional/clinical placement ensuring excellent employment opportunities.
All of our programmes are accredited by professional bodies including the British Dietetic Association (BDA), Institute of Food Science & Technology, Association for Nutrition and the BDA Sport and Exercise Nutrition Register (SENr). The agri-food sector is one of the most successful industries within the UK/Ireland and excellent employment opportunities are available within the food industry in a variety of areas including product development, quality assurance and marketing and in advisory roles in companies and public agencies. Our graduates also work within the NHS, health promotion, public health, nutrition research, sports nutrition and government organisations.
