Clionadh Harmey Artist Talk. Thursday 20th Oct 1pm. Conor Lecture,Theatre. Belfast School of Art. All Welcome!

Art & Infrastructure

In this talk Cliona Harmey will look at art which intersects with communication infrastructure and will include work by myself and some other practitioners.

She works with sculpture and digital media to create works which combine object hacking, diy/enthusiast electronics and live data.

Her practice is often inspired by accounts, artefacts and the forms of early technological inventions/communication technologies and apparatus of analogue photography as well as other forms such as files, folders, lenses, mirrors, windows, screens. In 2015, she produced Dublin Ships, a temporary public commission using shipping information which was located at a major intersection in Dublin. Cliona is a lecturer in the Fine Art Media Department at NCAD, Dublin. Recent shows include “Block and Receive”  at the Butler Gallery, “Telling Lies” at Rua Red, “Phoenix Rising” at the Hugh Lane Gallery and Troposphere at Pallas Projects.
