Meet the Team

Key Contacts for Apprenticeships at Ulster University

Most of your engagement with the University will be with either the Academic team who deliver the teaching on the course, or the administrative staff that support this academic work behind the scenes.  At the start of the partnership we'll introduce you to these key contacts, but if you need to get in touch and aren't sure where to start, email apprenticeships@ulster.ac.uk and we can assist you.

Your primary point of contact during the apprenticeship will be the relevant Programme Director for the programme of study.  They oversee design, delivery, and assessment for the entire programme, and provide pastoral care to apprentices.  You should meet periodically with the Programme Director to discuss the performance of your apprentices, and to coordinate on-the-job training with the modules that are being studied.  If you have concerns about an apprentice's performance or just need to speak with someone, you should reach out to them in the first instance.  For some of the larger apprenticeship programmes, this work will be carried out by Programme Employer Leads who are assigned to specific employers.

Course teams rely on Administrative Staff within their Faculty or School to communicate with and provide employers with data on attendance and academic progress.  They are not typically involved in the delivery of the course or assessment, so queries about the data they send you should be directed to Course Directors/Programme Employer Leads.

Finally, the Centre for Apprenticeships, Skills, and Flexible Education is a small, centralised team, and is often the first point of contact for new employers and applicants interested in Degree Apprenticeships.  We work with Course Teams, Central Departments (see below), and the Department for the Economy to improve the apprenticeship experience for everyone, and to ensure that our provision remains compliant with the government's Operational Requirements for Higher Level Apprenticeships.  You'll hear from us periodically regarding apprenticeship recruitment and events, and importanty if we need your help to update or complete any apprenticeship paperwork.

University Resources for Apprentices

Your Apprentices may occassionally need support from outside of the course team.  Apprentices have the same access to our support services as all other Ulster University students.  Each team is familiar with the Apprenticeship pathway, and can be flexible in providing support even when your Apprentice is only on campus for a limited time each week.
