Each Year, the Department for the Economy invite Training Providers to submit nominations for their annual NI Apprenticeship Awards ceremony.
Degree Apprenticeships at Ulster University are eligible for a number of categories, including:
- Higher Level Apprentice of the Year Award
- Large Employer in Partnership with a Training Provider Award
- SME in Partnership with a Training Provider Award
- Mentor Award
- Apprenticeship Champion Award
Key points
More information about the awards can be found on the DfE website, but here are a few key points to consider about the nominations process.
Three nominations only
The University can only submit three nominations in each category, so we ask that you complete our form well in advance of the DfE deadline so that we are able to convene a panel to assess the applications.
We also need to give our academic staff time to respond to questions on behalf of the training provider.
Applications are via Microsoft Forms
We use Microsoft Forms to collect applications.
If your organisation prevents you from accessing external systems or has a firewall, you can request a Microsoft Word document version but applications must still be collected on time.
Themes
DfE are focused on a number of themes which should be addressed in your nomination.
- HLA of the Year - exceptional contribution to their workplace, and their dedication to excellence in their professional development and learning. Evidence of dedication to, and excellence in, the Higher Level Apprentice’s performance; achievement; and progress.
- Large Employer and SME Awards - excellence and originality around commitment, development, and sustainability.
- Mentor - contribution to their workplace and dedication to contributing to Apprentices' professional development and learning
- Apprentice Champion - strong commitment to raising awareness of apprenticeships, supporting apprentices in their development, engaging employers and stakeholders, and driving positive change through innovation, leadership or advocacy
Nominations are now closed for the Department for the Economy's NI Apprenticeship Awards 2027.
