Graduation

The University holds graduations on two separate occasions during the year, in summer and winter. Summer graduations are held in late June / early July and Winter graduations are held in December.

Students who complete courses between January and June are invited to attend a summer graduation ceremony. Those who complete between August and October are invited to attend a winter graduation ceremony.

The awards of students are conferred at the next suite of graduation ceremonies following the date on which they successfully complete their course. Students are not permitted to defer graduation though in exceptional circumstances such as serious illness, accident or other comparable situations, permission may be granted to defer attendance. This deferral applies to attendance only and the award will be conferred in the student’s absence.

Students on linked postgraduate courses (postgraduate certificate or postgraduate diploma) who complete in June will be invited to attend the winter ceremony if they choose not to proceed to the higher award of postgraduate diploma or master’s degree.

Ceremonies are held as follows:

Summer

  • The Diamond, Coleraine Campus
  • The Waterfront Hall, Belfast
  • The Millennium Forum, Derry/Londonderry

Winter

  • The Diamond, Coleraine Campus or the Millennium Forum, Derry/Londonderry*
  • The Assembly Hall, Jordanstown Campus.

*The winter ceremonies for students at the Coleraine and Magee Campuses are held on alternate years in the Diamond and the Millennium Forum.
