TJI hosts a lively and dynamic PhD cohort at our Jordanstown and Magee campuses. Our PhD researchers are central to our research community and are integrated into the daily life of the Institute.


PhD opportunities are available each year across a broad range of thematic areas and can be found on the Doctoral College website.

Application timeline

The timetable for the Annual Scholarship competition for 2021 is as follows:

  • Competition opens: 18 December 2020
  • Closing date for online applications: 26 February 2021
  • Interviews by Faculties: April 2021
  • Letters sent to applicants: From May 2021
  • Studentships commence: September 2021
