Advantages of ORCiD

• ORCiD protects your scholarly identity by disambiguating researcher profiles;
• It is a globally recognised persistent ID;
• ORCiD is recognised by some of the largest funders, publishers, and research organisations, including mandatory requirement from some e.g. Wellcome Trust, the Royal Society and NIHR UK;
• Your ORCiD can be integrated with PURE enabling the push and pull of your publications between the two systems;
• Both PURE and ORCiD have built in privacy settings so you can choose what data is visible where.

PURE Integration with ORCiD

PURE integration with ORCiD enables you to link your ORCiD to your PURE profile and to export information from your personal profile within PURE to your ORCiD.

If you choose to export from PURE to ORCiD, the following information is sent:

• Other identifiers on your profile (Scopus Author ID, Researcher ID, Digital Author ID).

Note

If you delete an ID from another system, for example a Scopus author ID, in ORCiD then it will reappear the next time content is exported.

• Limited organisational affiliation information:
  • Institutional affiliation (along with the City and Country of the organisation);
  • End date of affiliation (if a former member of staff or student).
• PURE Portal URLs (if configured to be exported by your local PURE administrator);
• Metadata about your research outputs, where all of the following apply:
  • the publication status is ePub ahead of print or published;
  • the workflow state matches that configured by your local PURE administrator (validated);
  • the visibility is public.
• You can choose to import publications from ORCiD into PURE.

Exporting Outputs from PURE to ORCiD

Once you have Authorised the Export of Content to ORCiD, PURE will push outputs into ORCiD, on a weekly basis, via an automated sync job.
