Our Wellbeing Champions

Wellbeing Champions are people at all levels of the University who promote activities in their local areas, encouraging colleagues to access relevant health and wellbeing opportunities by sharing best practice and stories of success.

Wellbeing Champions promote, identify, and signpost ways to support the wellbeing of their colleagues, promoting healthy lifestyles and positive mental health.

The role of Wellbeing Champions in the workplace

  • Promoting particular health campaigns by updating colleagues on events and resources e.g. World Mental Health Day, National No Smoking Day
  • Acting as a role model for promoting positive health and wellbeing practice within the University, team and department
  • Signposting staff to the wellbeing support that is available to them
  • Encourage colleagues to take time to reflect and be aware of their physical and mental health
  • Champion, promote and help to organise wellbeing activities/events and health messages e.g. a lunch time walk, book club/hobby group, menopause café
  • Collaborative working with other HSW champions across UU
  • Attend annual HSW champion meetings and relevant training.

Wellbeing champions signpost colleagues to the services Ulster University provides, including if they require mental health support and are not expected to provide advice.
