Dr. Timothy S. Mescon, a globally recognised champion of business education, has been appointed as a Visiting Professor by Ulster University Business School (UUBS) to enhance the university’s teaching, research and partnership activities in the field of business.

Formerly the Executive Vice President and Chief Officer of the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) for Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International, Dr Mescon currently serves as President Emeritus of Columbus State University and as Executive-in-Residence at the Parker College of Business at Georgia Southern University.

Over the past four decades, Dr Mescon has developed extensive experience and global networks within the education management industry – taking up a range of senior leadership roles in leading US institutions including the Michael J. Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University, Perdue School of Business at Salisbury University, University of Miami Herbert School of Business and the Carey College at Arizona State University.

Dr Mescon’s service has been recognised by the White House where he was named as a winner of the President’s Volunteer Service Award from the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation. He has also received the national Award of Excellence from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

Professor Mark Durkin, Executive Dean at Ulster University Business School, commented on the appointment:

We are delighted to welcome Dr Mescon to our cadre of Visiting Professors. Now, more than ever as we move through the impacts of the pandemic and Brexit, Northern Ireland needs to embrace opportunity on an international scale. We are enabling our students to do just that through our model of entrepreneurial education domestically and internationally. Tim is a champion for business educators everywhere, is a passionate believer in the transformational power of education to make a difference and has deep international experience which will both support and challenge the Ulster University Business School. We are honoured to have him join us.

Dr Mescon is also the author of more than 200 articles and case studies, and he has co-authored five books, including Entrepreneurship: Venture Initiation, Management and Development (Routledge/Taylor & Francis) and his latest co-edited work, Technologies, Artificial Intelligence and the Future of Learning Post-COVID-19- The Crucial Role of International Accreditation (Springer, 2022).

Speaking about his appointment, Dr Mescon said:

I am so very honoured to join the Ulster University Business School as a Visiting Professor. I have been so greatly impressed with the vision and strategy of UUBS situated in a world-class facility in the incredibly dynamic and historical capital city of Belfast. I am particularly excited to contribute to enhancing the global perspectives of UUBS students and working with so many distinguished colleagues.

Ulster University Business School has a cohort of approximately 30 Visiting Professors representing a wide range of competencies and industry expertise. Appointment is based on personal business achievement and the active contribution which the individual can make in helping the Business School provide the optimum educational experience for its students.
