Two of Ireland’s leading guitar players in their respective fields join forces for a duo performance highlighting various styles and influences.
Bill Shanley is one of Ireland’s most respected and in demand session musicians, working regularly for Ray Davies, Paul Brady, Gilbert O’Sullivan and Mary Black.
A native of Clonakilty, Co. Cork, Bill also runs his own all-star band, and is an important figure in the development of the influential Clonakilty International Guitar Festival. His new album, Midnight Mission, has recently been released to much acclaim, and features guest appearances from Ray Davies and Paul Brady.
Ronnie Greer has been a central figure in the Irish blues scene for over 40 years. His distinctive guitar playing, melding visceral Chicago style licks with jazz inspired lines and chord voicings, has been critically acclaimed as world class. He has shared the stage with some of the leading figures of the genre, including Dr.John, Memphis Slim, Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee and Carey Bell.
Previous collaborations between Bill and Ronnie have proved very satisfying, their respective styles, although quite different, complement each other perfectly.
