Innovation in high speed friction measurement of road

Funder: Highways England
Duration: 01 October 2015 - 31 March 2017
Staff Involved: Dr D Woodward and Dr P Millar

This is an 18-month collaborative project with AECOM looking at innovation in the measurement of high speed friction for the English Strategic Road Network (SRN). The English SRN is 1865 miles of motorways and 2571 miles of Class A trunk roads. Although it is only 2% of the length of the English road network it carries approximately one third of all traffic movements in England hence its strategic importance.

A probabilistic framework for improved roads management

Funder: Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII)

Staff Involved: Dr D Woodward and Dr P Millar

This 3-year project is a collaboration with UCD, Trinity and TII and involves safety of the Irish legacy roads network. The aim of this Collaborative project is make Irish roads safer and improve road safety design guidelines and use of construction materials.
