Abbie - K-Design in South Korea

"The best two weeks of my life, an unforgettable experience that gave me lifelong friendships and amazing memories I’ll always look back on."

Memorable Moments

The best part of the whole experience was definitely the people I met. I made friends on the way to the airport and in my classes, and we ended up spending all of our free time exploring Seoul together. We visited so many places, tried loads of new food, and made memories I’ll never forget. Learning at Hongik University and seeing Korean fashion and design first-hand also gave me so much inspiration.

The Culture

I loved experiencing everyday life in South Korea. Everyone was really respectful, public transport was so easy to use, and there was always something to do.

Navigating New Challenges

At first, it was a bit overwhelming because everything was new and I didn’t know the language. Luckily, everyone was really kind and helpful, and our group of friends figured everything out together. After a few days, we knew our way around where we were staying, had worked out how to use the underground, and felt much more confident exploring Seoul on our own.

Making friends

Making friends was definitely the best part of the experience. We did everything together, and whenever we were separated for classes, we couldn’t wait to meet up afterwards and explore Seoul together. We became really close in such a short amount of time, and even now that we’re back home, we have already met up and have so many plans together. We’ve even talked about travelling together again in the future.

Exploring Seoul

We mainly explored different parts of Seoul, including Hongdae, Myeongdong, Gangnam, N Seoul Tower, Gyeongbokgung Palace, and the Han River. Every area had something different to offer, so it felt like I was experiencing a new side of the city every day.

Tips for You

Make the most of every day because the time goes by so quickly. Try new foods, explore places you hadn’t planned to visit, and spend as much time as you can with the people you meet. It ended up being one of the best experiences I’ve ever had, and I made amazing friends and memories that I’ll always look back on.
