    This short course will equip you with the essential tools and techniques to manage projects from start to finish, ensuring successful delivery every time.

    Whether you're managing complex initiatives or smaller projects, get practical insights to navigate each stage of the project lifecycle. You’ll learn to align project outcomes with business goals, drive efficiencies, and lead teams to success.

    This course is designed for busy professionals who need practical, actionable skills. Here’s a breakdown of the key areas we’ll cover:

    1. Project Management Overview

    • Understanding the fundamentals of project management
    • Key project roles and responsibilities
    • An introduction to the project lifecycle and initiation phases

    2. Project Initiation

    • Defining project scope and objectives
    • Budgeting and resource planning for optimal execution
    • Creating project scope statements and setting success criteria

    3. Project Planning

    • How to create a detailed project plan
    • Identifying the critical path and resource management
    • Deliverables, milestones, and timelines

    4. Project Execution

    • Overseeing project progress and managing teams
    • Developing effective communication strategies for stakeholders
    • Quality management, risk mitigation, and issue resolution

    5. Project Monitoring and Control

    • Monitoring project performance and staying on track
    • Managing the project environment and maintaining control over key variables

    6. Project Close

Whether you're in traditional industries or the tech sector, you’ll gain insights into managing projects effectively in an ever-changing business landscape.


    Course Duration and Delivery Format

    The course will be taught across 7 online sessions. While every measure is taken to adhere to the proposed dates, please note that in exceptional circumstances, this may change.

    • 4 March: Live on BBL 15.00-17.00
    • 11 March: Self directed learning
    • 18 March: Live on BBL 15.00 - 17.00
    • 25 March: Self Directed learning
    • 1 April: Live on BBL 15.00 - 17.00
    • 8 April: Self Directed Learning
    • 15 April: Class test

    Dates may be subject to change.


    Teaching, Learning and Assessment

    The course will be taught online through a blend of live lectures and self-directed learning. The course is 100% coursework. Assessment will take the form of two online tests which take place in week 4 and 7 of the course.

    This is a 15 credit module

    Course Entry requirements

    You should hold a Second-Class Honours Degree or better OR have significant managerial / business experience.

    Fee Funding Eligibility

    Places are limited and open to applicants who:

    1. are over 18 years of age;
    2. are eligible to work in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland (ROI);
    3. are ‘settled’ in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland, and has been ordinarily resident in the UK or ROI for at least three years; or
    4. are a person who has indefinite leave to enter or remain in the UK or ROI.
    5. meet the course specific entry requirements as detailed above.
    6. meet the Ulster University general entry requirements
    7. this programme is not available to applicants with the following residency:
      1. GB and Islands
      2. EU excluding ROI qualifying residents
      3. International students
