Coleraine: Music and live events
The Causeway Coast has a lively calendar of music, festivals, cultural celebrations and major events. From live performances and traditional music to large-scale events, there are plenty of opportunities for students to experience something new and explore the region beyond campus.
With events taking place across Coleraine, Portrush, Portstewart and the wider Causeway Coast, students can enjoy a varied programme of entertainment close to Ulster University’s Coleraine campus.
Experience live music and local performances
The North Coast has a vibrant music scene, with performances and events taking place throughout the year. From traditional Irish music and local performers to contemporary artists and live shows, there are opportunities to discover a wide range of music.
Atlantic Sessions is a highlight of the local music calendar, bringing original music to venues and locations across Portrush and Portstewart. The Sam Henry Weekend in Portrush also celebrates the region’s musical heritage through music, dance and song. Held near Limavady, Stendhal Festival brings together live music, arts, comedy and creative performances each summer, with a diverse schedule featuring local and international artists.
Annual festivals and major events
The Causeway Coast hosts a wide variety of festivals and major events, celebrating sport, culture, music and local heritage.
During the summer in Portstewart includes live music, performances, activities and entertainment. Further along the coast, the Ould Lammas Fair in Ballycastle celebrates one of Ireland’s oldest traditional fairs, with music, heritage and local traditions at its heart.
For sports fans, the North West 200 is one of the region’s biggest annual events. The internationally recognised motorcycle road race attracts competitors and spectators to the Causeway Coast and creates an exciting atmosphere across the region.
