We were delighted to launch our new innovative Crowdfunding platform earlier this year with great success.

This offers a new way for our students to raise funds for projects, clubs, societies and entrepreneurial plans while learning many new transferable skills along the way. It also offers our alumni a way to keep up to date with Ulster University’s students’ new ideas and ambitious projects, and even support their ventures.

Crowdfunding is a way of raising finance by securing many small amounts of money from a large number of people.

It offers a new innovative way for our students to finance projects. So each individual gift, no matter how small, plays its role in helping them achieve their objectives.

To date, over £13,000 has been raised for a wide variety of student projects.  One student project which successfully raised £1,000 is FitFinder, a digital marketing and advertising platform for gyms and personal trainers helping them to reach more potential customers with their facilities, products and services.

A group of ceramics, jewellery and silversmithing students raised £2,000 to help with the costs of attending New Designers, an event which brings together universities, buyers, and the design industry in London to celebrate and recognise the next generation of graduate designers. It is the most important design event for graduate designers and makers in the UK.

And most recently, Trudy O’Donnell raised over £900 to cover costs for her final Masters Performance Showcase, when she performed her Traditional Irish flute alongside renowned 'Anúna’.

Ulster University Alumni have played a key role in helping our students realise their ambitious projects. To keep up to date with new projects, please follow us on Twitter @UlsterUniCrowdfund and Facebook. and ulster.ac.uk/crowdfunding
