About the Journalism Suite
The Newsroom at Ulster University’s Coleraine campus is a dynamic, industry-focused space designed to give students hands-on experience in creating content for today’s fast-moving media landscape.
Developed through a major investment in facilities, a full curriculum redesign and accreditation from the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC), the Newsroom brings together professional practice, creativity and innovation in one collaborative environment.
This versatile space provides a unique learning experience where students can develop practical skills across a wide range of areas, including digital content creation, broadcasting, storytelling, multimedia production and audience engagement.
The Newsroom is built around real workflows—editorial meetings, live briefs and deadlines—giving students first-hand experience of how modern content is created and shared.
By working in this immersive and collaborative space, students develop transferable skills in communication, creativity, teamwork and problem-solving—preparing them for careers not only in journalism, but across a wide range of media, creative and digital industries.
